Peter Romanovsky - is one of the strongest Soviet masters of 20-30ss, large chess teacher, author of a series of valuable books on different questions of a chess creative activity, being in the great success. His views have not lost actuality up to now.
Romanovsky referred to the theme of middlegame twice. The first work under this title was published in 1929, when all the World was under the impression of hypermodernism: it seemed, that "mysterious stone" of chess was found.
The first publication "Middlegame" of Romanovsky became by the hymn to the new ideas of Nimtsovich, Reti and other leaders of those time. Many years later Romanovsky again wrote the book under the same title. Passions around hypermodernism were settled to those time and it was time to return to unfading values, created by classicists and romanticists, and to give a new assessment of the idea wealth, accumulated in chess. The second book was published in two volumes ("Plan" and "Combination"), and the volume, dedicated to the combination, was published in a soft-cover and was preserved only at a few people up to now. |
