The FIDE World Cup in Hyderabad, India takes place 9th-20th October 2002. The event looks sure to be missing many of the top stars. Although the organisers remain hopeful that some will play Ruslan Ponomariov, Viswanathan Anand, Alexander Grischuk, Garry Kasparov, Vladimir Kramnik, Vesselin Topalov, Michael Adams, Boris Gelfand and Peter Leko have all failed to sign up so far.
